The recommended dose for Carnitine is one 600mg capsule two or three times daily with or after food.

Higher doses are sometimes required but may cause nausea and difficulty sleeping.

Carnitine is not recommended for people with low thyroid hormone levels, people undergoing dialysis, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with liver or kidney disease.
